Some of the clients I did work for recently referred my company to be featured on CNTVDENVER.COM and to showcase my company on cable news.

Since I have been a carpenter/ finish carpenter/ cabinet maker for almost 30 years, I like to share with you a little bit more about my beginnings. My experience really started when I was about 12 years old, and I’ve always been working with my hands building something with wood and have always been mechanically inclined. I built my own soapbox derby car and entered the National derby race 3 years in a row and finished 2nd place the last year I entered! That was so exciting and fun!

I’ve had a few different career changes over the years to include European auto mechanics, to ‘old school’ paste up artwork while working with my brother Dan back in the mid 1970’s. I also owned another company in the 1980’s performing property maintenance & management, then on to working residential and commercial construction, framing houses to building commercial buildings with large construction companies.

After moving from Southern California back to the Midwest in the early 1990’s, I started working in cabinet shops which has become a real passion of mine. Starting off as the low man on the totem pole to managing 40 people building cabinets, reading blueprints, staffing large building projects, also installing cabinets on multi-million-dollar homes in Aspen, Vail, and all along the front range in Colorado.

I was fortunate to work for a large cabinet company in Fort Collins that won the contract to build all the cabinets, locker rooms, and woodwork at the Broncos stadium and the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver.

In summary, it has been a great career as a cabinet maker! Starting from the ground level up to management, to owning and running my own business. Finally, I started Charlie’s Carpentry in the early 2000’s. The best advice I could give anyone looking to go out on their own is follow your dreams and don’t ever give up.

There’s nothing hard about doing anything except just doing it! That was some wise advice from my mom, Katie Lennon.

Good luck on acquiring your dreams!
